This is my first time ever knitting something, and it's going slow. It's hopefully going to turn into a cowl in the end...

Will roast a turkey breast for supper.

I’ve never used them before, but I really like how I don’t have to keep switching needles.

And you don't lose a needle, and the weight of the project is supported in your lap. When you work on flat pieces, you don't have the long end of a needle flapping around at the beginning/end of the row.

I use straight needles for casting on, and that's about it.
