That's my problem too! I have both bators full and 4 broodies. One broody is hatching now, and the other 3 have as many as they can hold! They are all 3 bantams, 2 have 12 eggs (bantam), and one has 6 or so eggs (bantam and standard). One is dutch, one golden sebright, one silkie/OEG mix, so they are at capacity!

I had another broody, but my silkie mix ran her off the nest, or I would have room for more eggs

Of course, the one that is hatching now is an OEG. She has already been brooding for 6 weeks, so I could take her chicks away and set more eggs under her, but I worry that she would leave the eggs. I doubt it, but that would be my luck

My last headcount was 484... I'm tired... I think I'm going to take a break after these chukars hatch. Hatching them is one thing... feeding and watering them and keeping them alive is a whole 'nuther ball of wax...

I will sit on my hands and not take anymore eggs.
I have way too many going right now. But Mrs. AK makes me feel so good. (Not counting the brooder babies) we only have a bit more than 300 adults (birds) to care for. We don't have that many at all . . . If I could just convince Himself of that.

Those actually don't take as long to wrap as the bantams eggs do. Maybe that's because I send at least 2 dozen bantams at a time?

It is time consuming though. I have 4 or 5 orders of eggs that need to go out now. They will get to wait, I have finals due on Sunday, and I'm a procrastinator. I just barely started on them, 2 different papers of at least 1,700 words each!

I hear you! I don't have a quarter that many adult birds (okay, maybe a quarter that many including the babies) and it totally eats up my day watering, feeding, changing bedding, etc.

I'm done hatching chicks for the time being...unless an amazing, incredible, unpassable deal comes my way. (Notice I only said chicks, there is no word of geese, ducks, quail, guineas, or turkeys in the done part. I don't have any guineas or turkeys at the moment, but hey, what's a couple hundred dollars and a few days to throw up some kind of shelter if I happen to obtain a few?)

Technically, quail are chicks too, so you need to be more specific

I have a bunch or duck eggs that are looking for an incubator if you need to hatch PM me. Ducks are one of my favs but I can't incubate any right now so I've been passing the eggs out & boiling the rest to feed the critters. Never say that I am not an enabler.
