today i am starting a mock newspaper/newsletter for my children that will 'appear' on the mailbox posted on the chicken coop weekly.

any ideas for a name, columns etc would be welcomed that are child appropriate.

thought it would be fun, educational and a great memory maker.

thoughts so far:
egg production
weather
birth/death notices (real life, but not morbid of course!)
advice column (from the boss hen maybe?)
puzzles & games (education disguised as fun!)
recipe of the week

so, put your noggins on! as soon as i get one done, i will post it. maybe i could even get a few articles from happenings at others farms and homes! guest interviews by one of our hens!!!

thanks...senior editor and newspaper owner...miss jayne

??? I'm confused. Are you saying you want to start a newsletter that you are going to put "in your mail" for the kids to read?

Will they know it's from you or is it supposed to be like one of the chickens is the reporter??

I think this could be a really cute idea.

If you wanted to add some outside flair to it...I think it would be easy enough to find some of us with little kids that would be willing to contribute (and maybe even print out a hard copy for our "coop mail")

As for names....umm...

"The Coop Scoop"
"Eggstra Eggstra...read all about it"
"The Daily Hen"
"The Chicken Post"

....oh stop me

HAH! awesome ideas

the newspaper will be hung on the newspaper rungs of the mailbox that is on my chicken coop.

the paper would be written by the chickens, not me. i also thought that would be more fun.

totally would like to hook up with others and share articles and then post so you could download hard copy! i was hoping it would take that direction.

i thought especially things like the recipe and math, puzzles etc would just be great fun that is educational, hands on and tactical...

great idea! Very creative. I like the "sneak in learning" tactic.....

There used to be programs online where you gave clue/words and it would build a crossword puzzle for you.

yep, i have used that crossword builder in the past...i was a professional clown for 12 years and used stuff all the time to make puzzles etc. last i saw it was on a site for teachers...free tools etc...

that is hilarious, and being that you have kickin' ninja skills, i will highly consider it!

any ideas on articles/columns is highly appreciated.

keep 'em coming guys!
