we would give our turtle little treats (fresh dug worm, meal worms, etc...) and she would eat one and then follow you doing this little chirping sound until you gave her another! She was so fun for the kids to watch and they learned a lot about them as well. You have to be careful releasing them also. I wouldn't put him back in the same spot or he'll just go back up to the road again. also once in captivity for a while, one they get used to humans and 2 there are chances of mixed bacteria that could be dangerous to him and to the other turtles. I'd read up on it. I know here in GA it's illegal to release a turtle that has been kept into the wild..... I'm wouldn't worry about the illegal part but you wouldn't want to bring him or any of the others into danger.
