I have to tell hubs to build me a covered porch asap. That way he gets the chickens out the house and I get a covered area!

Is 18 if the other ones hatch! I just think they won't bc of no internal pips and blood spots. Today is day 23. If nothing by tomorrow then I will crack the egg and see. Then toss the body to the feral kitties for nutrition.

I don't band anything till they are fully grown. Had an incident with a chicken leg growing with in the week over the band. The band cut the tendon sheath and I could see tendon protruding out of the leg. I saved her and she's fine. But I never want to go through that again. So safest way for me is not to do it till they are grown.

I have a great eye for details and can pretty much remember who's who as long as I don't get over 40 chicks.

All my babies that are black and yellow are difficult. Once they grow into their floof a bit I am sure I can tell who is who. Except the 3 eggs that hatched yesterday while I away. Idk who is who! Lol.

Don't worry, you can do banding right from an early age. You just have to be super on top of it, and I'm a worrier

Me too. But I check on the babies multiple times a day as well bc I like looking at the floofs.

Foot color is how I've been identifying mine.

Also I work 10hr days so checking can get hectic and I may forget. It's just better for me.
