Naming

weell i got tired of waiting for the buff orpingtons so i got a road island red instead hey tht rhymed lol but anyway yea i named her Rosalina, Rose for short wht do yall think??

If you can't think of an existing name that fits your chicken, why not make one up? I made up names for three of mine: Hemfrcelt my red frizzle, Tvilmaent my SLW, and Sumrinel my BO. I also have some named after plants: Clover, Snapdragon, and Bear Rose my RIR's. In about two weeks I will be getting 16 bantam cochins, and because of the sheer volume, I will be sticking to Latin. The bonus with that is that you can change the gender of most Latin words if your chicks turn out to be a different gender than you thought they were. Have fun naming!

We have tractor (lovingly named by a 2 year old) Hawkeye, stick the harry chicken, onyx, eggroll, squeek, squawk, carebear... and the newest Zaxby. My son seems to be going with chicken food themes now... we are looking at nugget, buffalo, dumplins, crispy, sunday, omelet... lol could be fun!

I googled 'old lady names' and a list came up! So I named my 4 girls: Ethyl and Myrtle (Welsummers) and Opal and Pearl (Marans). I figured those would be fitting names for some biddies!

Mine aren't original at all but at least they are easy to remember ... all flowers: Lily, Daisy, Camellia, Buttercup, and Tulip.

Friends have suggested Agapanthus (Eeeeek!), Rose, Hydrangea, Mum (for Chrysanthemum), Peony, Carnation, etc. (you get the idea). You might try that same but anything but Agapanthus! LOL
