but if I can use my own soap, that would be even better

I'll do the Ivory soap if no one has an answer, I guess. I'll have to research a bit more - I'm sure that folks in the olden days didn't run out to buy a certain soap to make laundry detergent, they must have used what they made themselves, probably.

thanks -

I can sell you a couple of bars of Naptha soap for $1.30 per bar with shipping charges which I have no idea of the cost but it should not be that much.

Maybe your Dollar stores might carry them or Krogers.

Meri, my grandmother made lye soap (the old fashioned way--in a washpot over a fire in the backyard) and used the soap for bathing, washing her hair, laundry and dishwashing! Refused to use anything else, even when she moved to "town" to live with us. Shocked some of our neighbors for sure! LOL

I'm sure the soap you make would work very well.

I finally found Naptha soap at a Kroger's yesterday. They had plenty, and also Super Washing Soda, which I had not been able to find anywhere else.

My boss's wife told me for a grease stain, put a squirt of lighter fluid on it. Works every time!!!

The only issue with lighter fluid is that it can be dangerous to then put that clothing in your washer and dryer. My husband (a firefighter) has fought a couple house fires that started from someone putting clothing that had flammable liquid on it in the wash.
