National oyster shell shortage?

Our local feed store is out of oyster shell. Supposedly, there is a national shortage of oyster shell and by extension calcium for layer feed. Has anyone heard about this?

I tried to locate some oyster shell online and was only able to find it at one place.

Is there any alternatives for calcium for layers?

Start saving their eggshells. Bake them, crush them up and feed them back to them.

My co-op said they're out of my preferred layer feed in all bag sizes. Still plenty of oyster shell on the shelves. If I can't get the layer I prefer then I'll just get all flock crumble as my flock is happy to eat that too.

It seems that every store is out of everything. For a while, it was hard to get our preferred brand of cat food. The pet food shelves were practically empty.

Wow, glad I stocked up last month! But at a quick glance, all my usual haunts seem to have all my preferred products on hand - Tractor Supply, Walmart, chewy. In a pinch, I bet you could use calcium supplements meant for parrots, other household birds.
Thank you
I have been looking into calcium supplements. They seem a lot pricier than oyster shell.
