Natural born MAMA

For once we're having a beautiful sunny day! It's been raining all summer. Leaves are turning yellow, and I think we are heading toward out first frost.

I have a young creole (sp?) cockerel who would let 'Nugget', my (at the time) 3-4 week old banty chick who lost her mama, snuggle under his wings. I think he still does, when it gets chilly. He is probably about 2-3 months old. Nugget is now 7 weeks. The cockerel can fly up to the rafters to roost, but on chilly nights, will be found on top of the nest boxes snuggling with Nugget. Best friends or budding romance??

I thought I'd update little...I havn't visited in so long!! The name is no longer Ox, I've named her Purdy birdy...and she just started laying her tiny green eggs last week. she is still very protective of her little banty friends. Purdy has the markings of her EE mama, and the colors of her SSH dad. She had grown to be a very friendly girl, and flies over to me everytime she sees me.
