natural protection for wood floor of coop??

the plastic I use is stiff enough and robust enough to handle a flat shovel. I use a deep layer of pre-composted wood chips on it, broken down to the point of having worms and other bugs. the chickens go nuts for it, a scratch and peck bonanza!

Doesn't it make the coop humid in the winter?

nope, I still ensure adequate ventilation. and were I use a liner under the meat birds, i use a nipple waterer to reduce spills.
