Good read. I didn't know about the SAR's. I took a few pics of the Orion constellation during the aurora, pointing the camera straight up. They had a red band all the way across the screen. That must have been the SAR. I'll post the pic later tonight.
 
I was planning on shooting the comet again in about 4-5 more days (closer to a new moon), but I now have to work the next twelve nights. So, I decided to drive an hour to bortle 3 sky and shoot it tonight. I had a 30-minute setback which cost me some valuable time, but I was able to get a few good pics before it got too low on the horizon.
