NC/VA/SC/GA Chicken Meet UPDATE: pg 15

Hi MarkM,

I want that silver duckwing oegb roo.
A friend of mine in town needs one, I'll check with him and make sure he still needs it.

I'll PM you.

AAWW, come on Arlee, can't you miss just 1 B-Ball game?
We'd sure love to have you...........It's going to be so much fun.

How will you ever live with yourself when you see all of our pics and know that you should have been in them too?

I am new to Backyard Chickens (not so new to chickens though) - and just heard about the meet up at Golden Coral in Raleigh - I'm in Cary - and if it is okay, I'd like to come out with money and some transport cages this Saturday! I have a lonely hen waiting for some new friends (a mean visitor made off with her sisters - she now lives in the Fort Knox of all coops!) We will be looking for BIG hens and a BIG strong rooster: welsummer, orpington, mille fleur, marans.... We are the only people in Cary, that I know of, with chickens - so we'll be interested in meeting you all. We can't make it for the lunch as it is my daughter's 5th birthday - but most of the chicken buying and swapping will be done after 1:00 it sound like? Thank you all for organizing this! -The Sherman's

Yes roosteroops, please do come out and join us.
This is going to be so much fun!

Are you looking for hens or roosters?
Any specific breeds you looking for?

WELCOME ROOSTEROOPS!!! We'll be SO GLAD to see you Saturday!!! I have an Easter Egg rooster that would love your hen, and hes very big. His tail is coming in nicely and he should be beautiful when it comes in fully, hes beautiful now, lol. Pm me to let me know what you think.

Hi, RR! Wow, you guys can have a rooster in Cary? Cool! We're not allowed a roo in my area of Raleigh. I have a roo available, a Crevecoeur, but he's a dainty thing, not big at all.

He stays inside at night and in the mornings. I don't let him out until after 11AM, so the crowing won't wake anyone. My neighbors know that he's just temporary.

What would you all think about WRAL coming out to shoot this get together on Saturday? I have a friend in the news business who thinks this would make a great "on the lighter side" piece - but I felt I should ask first before I email her the info. ((you won't hurt my feelings if you all think it should not be on the news)) I don't even watch the news that often - too disheartening.

my only concern for big time publicity is the legality of this sale, I understand to sell chickens in NC you need some kind of permit. I also understand that coming from out of state I have to have been tested clean in the past 30 days or be NPIP certified. I was tested last fall.

I may just buy and not bring any birds. I have not been able to get the state lab to figure out how to get me tested by tomorrow!

Is this going to attract the attention of some authorities?

Can we limit the publicity to the luncheon and meet portion and keep the sale out of it?

M
