NC/VA/SC/GA Chicken Meet UPDATE: pg 15

Sorry guys, wish I could make it, but that's a little far for me. Maybe some of us closer to Charlotte, Hickory way that can't make it to Raleigh, could meet in Charlotte some time.

I can't promise...but I will do my best to make it..

sounds like fun to me..

This is really looking like it's going to be such a fun meeting!!! There are still alot of nearby folks that haven't responded, hint, hint!!! Great food, great people, chicken talk, the farmer's market with everything fresh or handmade you can think of for sale, chickens to swap and sell, laughter, did I say great people already?!

It's 145 miles for me. I just might be able to make it, but I'd be bringing a Dh and four kids with me! Sounds like fun!! Everything is usually clear over in Western NC and I can't make most of those, so this'd be nice!

I don't have anything to bring though, except for one standard sized barred cochin roo. I just sold the extra 19 birds I had this weekend.

I wish I could go. I already promised Mom I'd go to her house and help clean out the attic that weekend. She's threatening to throw away all my childhood 'treasures' if I don't. And that's my only 'free' weekend that month.

I should be able to come, but would definitely want to include swap.

Zuni, maybe we can ride together, you are just up the road. AussieSharon is interested also

coreyNC, I have some white silkie showgirls, and I have lots of buyers for laying hens, lets talk, please email me.

I am looking for gold, silver, and buff sebrights,
golden laced wyandotte rooster
cochins
marans
modern games
barred rock
d'uccles
black, white, or wheaton/blue wheaton ameraucana

at that point I will have quite a few month old chicks available, email for details

why don't we have lunch served by them in the parking lot? buffet style inside and eat outside? Is that possible? Are they going to mind if we bring a bunch of chickens and set up a swap at their location?

some of us in VA are closer than some of you in NC!!! don't count us out!

Hi Margaret,

That would be great if you could make it too.

I figured I would make reservations for at least 25 to 30 people at the restaurant and we could all eat, chat, and do whatever.
Of course any chickens brought would have to be left in the vehicles, but when we're done inside, we could move on outside to swap and/or buy.
I'm not familiar with their policies but I don't foresee any problem.
I will call the restaurant and find out what they will allow.

And are you looking for chicks or hatching eggs in those breeds?

I've got BR, golden sebrights, white and silver penciled cochin bantams.
If you want eggs, I'll collect some for you for free.
BTW, the white cochins aren't laying yet, but all the others are.

Oh, and Stacy don't worry about the kids, I'll have 2 of mine (not sure if the oldest is coming), but DH already said he wasn't coming. (He probably wants to enjoy some peace and quiet without the nagging kids and wife)

BAD NEWS EVERYONE!

I just called the Farmers Market Restaurant, told them we were looking at about 25 - 30 people, and they said:

They seat people as they come in and they do not take reservations.
And they don't have buffet either.

Now, any of you Raleigh people, we need some ideas about a good eating place to meet at.

All I can think of is THE MAYFLOWER on Capital Blvd., but I know they don't have a big parking area, or they didn't when I was there early last year.

We've come this far, it can't fall thru now.
