NC/VA/SC/GA Chicken Meet UPDATE: pg 15

Yes, Lisajean,
I told them we had people coming from all over the state and wanting to meet, and there would be at least 25 to 30 people, and how far in advance would we need to make reservations.
The lady said they stay so busy that they just seat people as they come in and do not make reservations because that would tie up too much space for too long.
We could just come in and they would seat us as they had the available space but that would mean we may not all be able to sit together.
At this point I didn't bother mentioning about possible chickens in the parking lot.
And she said they close at 3:00 on Saturdays.

Could I have possibly talked to a misinformed idiot?
I guess that is possible, lol.

Do you think I should call back and ask to speak to a manager?
OR
Would it be better to go somewhere else being that the Farmers Market will be really busy?
OR
Maybe you or your mom could call too and see what they tell you.

Also Lisajean, Corey PM'd me and said that jersey giant may actually be an australorp, so I told him to contact you about it.

thanks for cheering up a LOOONNNGGG day!

Laura,

I called the ph # in your link and CANNOT get an answer.
I called information to see if there was another # listed and I was told they don't have a listing for Ryan's in Raleigh, but in Smithfield.

The link definitely says Raleigh.

Does this sound right to you?

Seems like everything I'm checking out is running into a dead end.

Now, I'm searching the yellow pages for restaurants. LOL

What type of food does everyone prefer?

Sorry guys for no info but this is getting nervewrecking!

I'm so sorry you are having such a rough go of it. I really don't care where we go, I'll eat anything. If you need my help just let me know. Trisha might help too..... Laura

FINALLY, some progress!

I talked with Golden Corral, 4201 New Bern Ave, Raleigh
and explained who we are (members of a chicken forum), why we want to meet (have a party and swap/trade live chickens), and how many there would be (right now 25 - 30 people, but hoping for more by then).

This is what I was told:

1. Feb. 23, they have a party at 2:00.....this just means we may/may not be able to have our own private dining area, and could be seated in main dining area

I said that would be fine, but we have never met, we are very excited, and we just wouldn't want to "run off" any other customers.

2. She had never been asked about bringing live chickens before (

) but there was a big vacant parking lot right beside of them that would be enough space for large trucks/trailers.
OH, and her exact words were " the chickens won't be loose will they? I mean they'll be contained in some way, right?

I said, Yes they will be contained, NO, we will not bring live chickens inside the building, and as far as I know everyone will be on passenger vehicles, not big rigs.

I also ask about discounts for such a large group and she said I need to call back tomorrow at 11:00 am and talk to the manager.
