Very nice! Now each part of the map is legible for those of us who wear cheaters. I am a computer user, but I do not grock machines the way DH does. You, obviously, can command your machine to work. Mine just snorts at me to show its disgust when I can't figure something out.

Demos for the N.E.O.C.S.

I'm going to share what I am learning about caponizing. My FIL is contacting friends in South America, people who have attended the annual capon fairs, so I should have plenty of information for anyone interested in learning the art of caponizing. My FIL thinks he may know someone who knows a member of a breeders' association in Spain. I'm hoping that lead will get us a recipe for the traditional potato mash that is fed to capons a couple of weeks before market day. I will have capons in various stages of growth on display. I'll have photographs, drawings, and printed information, but I can't do the actual procedure in a dark, dusty barn.

If Kass is able to attend the event, she's going to share what she knows about raising feeder insects: meal worms, dubia roaches, and soldier flies.

We need people to share what they know about soap making, canning, quilting, planting, etc., so send me an e-mail and we'll get you on the schedule. If you want to share but don't want to talk in front of a group, send me an e-mail and I will reserve a space for you to set up a static display. The pens with pillars in them will be used for static displays.

9:00 - 9:30 is still open.
9:30 - 10:00 is still open.
10:00 - 10:30 Capon Demonstration
10:30 - 11:00 Feeder Insect Demonstration <-- strong maybe. Kass, I can call your boss and pretend to be your Momma. You could come down with a severe case of DemoTitus.
After the Pay the Seller Poultry Sale, we can have more demonstrations, but I don't know how long the sale will last, so I have not made a schedule.

There's now a name for my relationship with computers rofl! I'm a Grocker.
What I like about computers is that when you do something with them you consistently get the same exact response every single time. Nothing else in my life is so simple and straightforward. You, on the other hand, have awesome organizing abilities and really seem to enjoy it. I couldn't do what you do if my life depended on it.

Ksane - Thanks for the kind words. When I worked as a payroll clerk and accounting assistant a bazillion years ago, coworkers referred to my organizational skills as a***, which rhymes with banal. I was required to be precise, accurate, and fast. That was a stressful job. I burned out in seven years.

A idea to throw out there:

Advertising - in addition to the fliers that Allbreeds is making, have you thought about contacting the T.V. stations in Tulsa to let them know of the upcoming event? I don't know how the news stations there do it, but they may have something similar to what we have here in OKC. Every Friday they have a segment on one of the local stations (NBC) where someone announces upcoming events for the weekend. They don't charge for the announcement, they just need to know about it ahead of time - a few days to a week ahead. That would get the word out a day or two in advance. It may not be a bad idea to contact the Tulsa and OKC T.V. stations - maybe even Joplin or Ft. Smith.

Question about the concessions:

You may have already posted this. If so, I missed it. Will there be a concession stand? If so, what do you plan to sell there? Will this be contracted out or manned by a BYCer?

Morning all.
Coral I would like 19-22 if possible. My FIL is gonna build some nice pens and my MIL is making some quilts and wall hangings, she may even do some chicken aprons and diapers if I talk her into it!

Contacting television stations is a great idea. I will put a note on my calendar to contact local T.V. the week before our event. Upcdayz, can you put a note on your calendar for five days before the event to ask me if I've done this? I need a reminder. You can be my wakeup P.M. I also plan to drop into the BYC threads for Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri to let folks know that we will have a chicken event in Muskogee.

Concessions: My DD's Girl Scout troop will run our concession stand. There may be more adult leaders than scouts, though, so I have not made a big announcement about scouts. The tables will be set up under a blue awning just outside the building on its southwest side. We'll run an extension cord to power a crock pot for hotdogs. They will also sell canned pop, bags of chips, and candy bars. They may also have baked goods in plastic bags, like cookies and crispy rice squares.

Okay. You are reserved for spaces 19 through 22. I'll update the map and repost it so that your spaces are red (reserved) rather than blue. We're going to fill this building. Two or there weeks before NEOCS, I will ask people to tell me what they are bringing: crafts, artwork, birds, breeds, ages, how many---- approximate. I'd like to make a few big poster boards that show what is anticipated for each space. I'd like to be able to scan the board and say, "I'm visiting 12, 28, 75, and 88 to look at baby chicks." We'll have some nice pens, quilts, wall hangings, crafts, leatherwork, artwork, and other wonderful wares for sale, and I don't want anyone to miss finding that special something they can't live without
