What auction. I may.

They call it the "exotics" auction. It's at the Palmyra sale barn. It's mostly poultry. There are usually lots of chickens, ducks, guineas, peafowl, etc. along with goats and llamas. Occasionally a few lizards and more unusual things too.

ETA: lots of rabbits too.

OHHHH!!! I think Im going!!

Im really excited to see what they have....

We are taking about 20 birds up to Lincoln on Nov. 7th to the show. It is out at the Lancaster Event Center on 84th for the first time. This is the 125th show this year with National Meets for Cochins, New Jesery Giants, International Waterfowl Society, and maybe another that I just can't think of. Should be over 1000 birds there this year with probably a couple hundred cochins in bantams and large fowl.

We are taking some bantams wyandottes in black and blue, a few silkies, bantam salmon faverolles, and a Buckeye hen and Salmon Faverolle hen. Probably bring up quite a few birds to sell as well - mostly show stock. Didn't start hatching until June so not many old enough to show this fall:(

Palmyra sale: Haven't gone in a few years. Never get $s for what birds are worth at this auction and hate making cages to sell birds in. Usually end up costing more to make cages than birds sell for - then blood pressure rises and get too upset.

Should add some pics of birds on here but never get time to try to load them and figure how to post them!!

Hey Lincoln people or Lincon area people! Are your chickens "covert"
cool.png
or does Lincoln actually allow chickens? And if Lincoln allows chickens, what else are you allowed to have?

Thanks!

It can go either way. Sometimes there are pheasants there. Sometimes there aren't. There always chickens, waterfowl and peafowl. Sometimes the selection is great. Sometimes it's not so great. It's a gamble. I am looking for Easter Eggers, Ameraucanas, or something that trips my fancy. I like to go and look at everything, eat fries and deep fried egg rolls and buy a thing or two.

Thanks chickenwhisperer123! I checked the Lincoln city code on the City website and 1-2 chickens = no permit needed.

More than 2 chickens, you need to apply for a permit. You can also keep geese, turkeys, and pigeons as long as you apply for and receive a permit. Looks like the annual cost is $50.00.
