Sorry to hear that the old guy didn't make it across the road.

Yes, the brutal heat and humidity comes back this weekend. I am NOT a fan, even though I am from southern Alabama and used to it, I DO NOT like it.

Watch Craigslist for chickens now that fair time, and 4 H is done.... even though they don't do the fairs this year.
 
Thanks. We have been checking craigslist almost daily all summer and usually just find roosters and pairs. We are not giving up though :)

I may have to break down an put an order in with mypetchicken.com for sexed bantams :)

The Bloomin' Metropolis that is Murray, Nebraska........ and have 9 Buff Orp pullets in a chicken tractor at the moment ...... still awaiting that first egg.....

Any fellow Eastern Nebraskans have any bantam hens they would like to get rid of? We are looking at adding up to 8 bantam hens to our flock. We currently have 3 roos to 6 hens and the wife and kids will not get rid of any of the roosters. Only two of the roosters act like roosters though :)

After lots of patience on craigslist we finally found 3 Colombian Rock bantam hens and one Turken Naked Neck bantam hen.

Now you mention the Colombian Rock bantam, I think I have one, I just never knew what her breed was. I will take a picture. I would like to get a Naked Neck Turken but I am in the city. So would have to get a hen.
Also: Nebraska Food Cooperative https://www.nebraskafood.org/food/index.php is a co-op I belong to. You may already know about it.
I want a Sebright Silver Laced, I had one and she was so smart, her name was Sparkle. Okay, looks like I am starting a wish list. ahhaa
