A group of 5 week old chicks and one started getting a bit of a wound. I separated it from the others clipped its claws and put some polysporin on it this morning. But now tonight it looked like it's worse. It is really swollen not just sore looking. Chick is acting normal. I dont see any mites and around vent looks clean.
Am I doing all I can or did I miss something?

It sounds like you are treating the wound like you should.

Do you happen to know the cause? Is the chick scratching a lot? Check it over for lice, mites or even ants.
I dont know the cause. My wife says she saw it scratching but I looked close and didn't see lice, mites or anything else out of the ordinary.
But I clipped its claws in case it was scratching itself.
