Necropsy in Maryland

Has anyone had one done?
Everyone keeps saying to go to Frederick but the website says something about having your chickens registered.
I know that that’s not the same as licensed but I’m a little uneasy about getting the state involved with my chickens.

I see nothing on your state lab's site about having to have a chicken registered before a necropsy.

Maryland does require chickens to be registered.

I am assuming they will ask for my registration or license at the lab or will send the necropsy report to the state which then will request to see my license.

Where I live you are required by law to have a chicken license.

If you are not registered when you go there they will register you. It’s free and pretty innocuous.

Is it like having a dog or cat licensed, I mean just so the state can track who has chickens in case there's an outbreak of bird disease of some sort? I mean, it doesn't give the right to come inspect every year or anything, does it?

As I understand it, exactly. I think they want to keep track in case of a disease outbreak.
