Need some help from experienced folks. Had a hen die Sunday night and took her for necropsy. They just called and said that their initial findings is that she had visceral gout. I had no idea what that meant so did a quick google. Looks like that's typically caused by too much calcium and dehydration. So the hen was weak and excessively thirsty when I found her. Her crop was full of water and smooshy. Any ideas what happened? Why would she be drinking so much yet dehydrated?
