Need a breed recommendation!

I think you would be happy with several different breeds. From the ones I have, I think you would be most happy with my Delaware, but any of my others would be good too. For your criteria, I'd suggest you look at the Wyandotte's because of their comb. They are less likely to get frostbite than many others because of their rose comb. The friendliness factor will depend on the individual bird. According to the Henderson Chart, they can be a little less friendly than some, but many people on here report that theirs make great pets.

The ones I'd really recommend are McMurrays's Red Star or Black Star. They are sex links so your chances of getting two pullets instead of one of them a rooster is better. They are cold hardy, lay a lot of eggs, and are usually very friendly. They are a cross, not pure breeds, so you will not find them in the Henderson Chart. With you criteria and situation of only wanting two and both of them pullets, I'd get these.
