only the shadow knows.....
I did something to my computer not (sure what) but now I can't get my mouse respond on right click, no screen saver will run and system scan won't work. Everything works fine when logged into as a different user.

Is there a way to reverse the Norton System Works to what it was prior to last monday. GO BACK only gives me the option of going back until Wednesday.

HELP!!! I don't want to have to do a complete system restore and reinstall EVERYTHING!!!

Here’s a tip, Stay away from Norton, they really suck. If I were you I’d uninstall and cut my losses.

I have always recommended Computer Associates They have top notch software, daily updates and it doesn’t hog all of your resources. http://shop.ca.com/malware/internet_security_suite.aspx is the website, they are an industry leader and have always catered to large business, they are now offering software for small businesses. I bought my subscription about 3+ years ago and it has not yet expired, it’s pretty cool stuff. I’d highly recommend it. Running the CA suite and Adaware http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2008/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?tag=lst-1&cdlPid=10844457 (to stop the pop ups and adware) weekly keeps all 4 of my home machines and 5 business machines running great.…. And yes, I am in the industry.
Peace,
Dave

First...dump Norton because it bites.

Do a system restore to a previous save point. Just do a windows help search for system restore to get instructions. It is easy.

Years ago Nortons made a really good product, now it sucks, and it seems very glitchy...add my windows vista to that and I HATE my computer!!!! It never does what it wants, my mouse works when it wants...GRRRR!
As for Nortons, it is ALWAYS telling me that there are issues affecting my statis but there is no way of fixing the issues because VISTA will not allow the program to run properly...so I will just use this crazy system until it dies and hopefully will be able to afford something else...

I dumped both Norton and Mcaffee 5 or 6 years ago and haven't regretted that decision. I agree on getting Adaware software; also try freeware version of avast.com anti-virus suite. I've used both for many years and avast updates its virus list at least daily if not more, depending on severity. Although I'm not really an IT guy I do have a Ph D in Micro EEE from good old MIT,in Boston, and know a few things maybe?

BuckeyeDave,

Are you saying that if you go to the site and buy their product, that you do not have to renew annually? Even a home user?

Symantec, IMHO, peaked with Q&A, but that's besides the point.

What kind of computer are you using?
What Operating system, and Version?
What version of Norton are you running?

I don’t know if it was just the time I purchased or how I purchased but all 3 purchases I made 3+ years ago with them covering 9 machines all have the expiration date of one year from today, 5-31-09, and tomorrow it will be 6-1-09. It is pretty cool and the software rocks.
Peace,
Dave

Thank you, BuckeyeDave, I appreciate hearing about this!

I've been having a terrible time. I got rid of Norton, and was supposed to have AVG installed. But there have been a lot of problems with that. It could be because I am running Vista, but problems nonetheless.

Then I installed Avast out of desperation. It's actually worked well so far, but I didn't mean it to be forever. I've had it for a few weeks now.

Anyway, thanks for the information!
