Need a good laugh???

I would never dream of asking my DH for a baby monitor or a chicken cam. He thinks I spend WAAAYY too much time on this site and WAAAAYYY too much time worrying about my peeps.
But you should've seen him racing across the yard to protect my peeps from the neighbor's big old labrador. They were free-ranging for the evening (under my supervision as always). The dog rarely comes our way but he really wants to chase peeps! My hubby is a 'run only when chased' kinda guy, so after the peeps were safely locked away I laughed my @ss off at the memory of him running around chasing the dog!

My 25th wedding anniversary is Aug 21st - wonder if I could ask for a webcam for my coop?!! It's a special anniversary so I would definitely want it to have night vision too!!!! (I can just see DH's face now!!!)

Hmm, well, Sharon, you might just get a glimpse of some, er, um, chicken porn, LOL! In DH's mood today, I dare not mention a hi-tech spy cam in the coop. He's a peach, but if I ask him to do one more thing for my feathered babies, it may not be pretty. We'll have our 32nd anniversary in December. Yep, married at 5 years old, LOL. JUST KIDDING! Actually, I thought about it, but I have three coops now and I'd want one in each coop!

So what are your husbands complaining about? A camera setup pales in comparison to a nice rifle, or car, or maintenance of either! I think a chicken coop camera would be a fine idea, along with an indicator that says when the chicken door is open

Now if you wanted to video tape it and archive all of the footage, then I could see an issue there. But nothing wrong with holding a day's worth of footage on a buffer (say a hard drive) so you can go back and look at the day's events if something went wrong.

And yea, you gotta get the infrared

Real time monitoring of my chickens would be great. How are the chickens doing? Log online and see them from 20 or 300 miles away. Did my stupid little brother forget the door again? Log online and check... Or! Rig it to set off a terrible alarm if it doesn't close within 1 hr of sun set!!! Buahhahahhaa


Royicus got some crazy flashlights. Great for checking the chicks out at night. Lights up the whole place. He's the one who got me the best hand held candler too. A little moded flashlight that is scary bright!

A good flashlight will run maybe $50 and up, and it would be one heck of a candeler.

Not to get this thread too off topic...

I modify most of my flashlights, since you can always do it better if you do it yourself (longer runtime or more lumens, or better yet, guilt free lumens!).
