Whoo Hoo!
After candling... it only looks like I have 7 out of 24 with veining

The air cells are stabilizing in some of the eggs, but some are going to need help I think.

After Candling, I have 8 with veins-some have better air cells than others.I think a few of mine will need help too. A few were completely crushed in when they arrived, so Im happy to be getting any at all! Woo Hoo! Now I just hope at least 50% are Frizzled, and at least 50% of those are Hens! OMG this is a way bigger gamble than I thought!

Its always a gamble unfortunately

Just threw out 17 eggs out ... absolutely nothing but bubbles and broken air cells. The 7 left are moving nicely and little black eyeballs looking at me. Of course my own showgirl eggs are clear... when is my roo gonna mate on the "right" end of the bird?

Yes!!!! That's the way to go! Me too. But I am slowly defining the ones I want the most. It is hard though because most of them are just endearing to the heart.

If you see no veining after day 7... dud... but don't be discouraged by a detached air cell, I hatched out the most gorgeous bird with very little hope in regards to the horrible air cell... you should see some veining by day 7.. good luck!

Some of the eggs I've candled have really dark shells...can I look for anything else besides veining to let me know they're in there? I can't see through the yolk with my homemade candler. Will the yolk move differently as I rotate it on the candler? I ask because I think this is the case with most of the dark ones.
