welcome to this thread.

she just hatched the first chicks from my bloodlines for this season. she has more in lockdown, and I brought her another 42 last night. oh, and she has 2 litters of newborn siberian huskies that I got to see last night.

Today is actually day 18 so they will go into lockdown tomorrow at Jens so I don't spill water all over the van on the trip there. I will be setting the 42 tomorrow night hopefully. We decided to move mom's and babies on the first trip so they can get settled in. Keep your fingers crossed that the adapter works ok in the van and keeps them warm enough. It is only a 45 minute drive so if I plug it in the lighter and wrap the bator with a blanket they should be ok.

hey, quick question, if the air sac is floating after day 6, is it a dud? i just spot checked a few and got one thats still not attached.

so imagine how nervous you guys with the first hatches are. picture this--you make it to day 19 but you are moving. unplug the bator and drive to a new town. yikes

omg they are the cutest things ever.

Oh they are just too cute. I could sit in there for hours and play with them. Miss our baby goats. We found homes for out goats. not any grass for them to eat so let them go to the next family to help them out and have fun.

I like the one in the back on the right hand side. Has some nice calico markings.

I'm having the same issue with the same thermos!!! Do you have still air(I do)? I think if you put the end of a couple of the thermos right at the level of the yolk that's what you want to be 99.5.

Anyone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong!!

I keep my thermometer just at the top of the egg and it reads 100.5 (so the rest of the egg is above 99) In a still air you can run the temps a little higher than in an incubator with a fan. I sometimes go to 101.5 at the top of the egg. My hatches are usually right on time (day 21) or sometimes day 20. I don't set more than 24 eggs at a time, so I try to keep all the eggs on the same side of the incubator (in case of fluctuations).

that is about what i have in mine too. I have a LG still air. Second hatch with it this season and my second hatch as well. I kept mine at 101 last time and everything was fine. so doing it again this year. I do not add water till lock down. The room they stay in is warm and I just have a ceiling fan on low and keep the door closed. I even this time covered my windows but kept the vents clear of the place mats that I am using to cover up the windows with. If i see my temp drop just a little I will take a portion of the place mat and just cover half of one of the air vents and wrks just great. Been steady 101 all week.

The air cells are stabilizing in some of the eggs, but some are going to need help I think.
