nice photos. sorry to see the air cell. I have only had eggs shipped a few times and every time the cells looked like that. one time the word fragile was written on the box. of course there was a hole punched in the box right where the word was.
Thanks.. Some of the air cells stabilized (maybe 3 or 4) but most look like that. I hatched out 2 that were like that before, so it is possible. But I did have to help..
We'll see
I candled my 43 eggs today. less than 50% fertile. most were from the same young roo. will have to buy him a "how to" instruction manuel.
yesterday I had a showgirl go broody. she is on wooden eggs. If she stays, I will set replacment eggs in the bator and give her eggs. she is tiny so she will not get very many.
Of those 12, I think 7 are wishful thinking. These are all from my chickens, most of which are under a year. But we have 7 under a broody hen that I have yet to candle, so maybe still hope.
Well.... I candled saturday. Of the 131 eggs I set, I now have only 42! 30 were shipped & I only have a few of them left. The rest were mine, but most were older than 2 weeks, so I expected this. The silkie eggs fared better than any other breed... I have 12 left.
I filled the second tray yesterday with 60 or so -- forgot to count -- eggs from my Orps, Dorkings & Ameraucanas. I added 28 silkie eggs to the 1st tray... well marked so I know which ones will hatch first.
I must have hatching fever, or perhaps I've lost my mind!!!!!!!! I only have 1 tray left in my bator, but since friday have ordered a dozen (mostly Cuckoo!!!) silkie eggs, a dozen SQ Dominique eggs and 2 dozen Orpington eggs in a color I don't have!!! I had to post eggs for sale on BST so I have room for the ones I bought!!!

I am sure she can handle quite a few.. My silkie Maple hatched out 4 HUGE duck eggs last spring. She had herself spread out wide. It was so cute. The eggs were 4x the size of her eggs
