YAY!

Now the fun begins watching the little babies hatch. I am in lock down here in just a bit. Going to get the eggs out of the egg cartons, get my water set up and then its lock down time. WOW this one really snuck up on me. Was going to try and figure out how to get them all separated but no time for that now as well. Just hope i can tell them all a part that is the reasoning behind it.

still might have time I have a cardboard box i can cut and make dividers from that. Just wished I had done this earlier but no time.

we had a small kitchen fire today at the house. MY 15 yo decided while we were at wrk that she wanted to make pop corn chicken and fry them in grease. NO one was hurt and did not loose power to the bator. just a small mess to clean up.
well time to go and get eggs ready.

HERE WE GOOOOOO !!!!!

OK, officially in lockdown, with 7 eggs from our own hens. I think 2 of the mixed banties, 2 EEs and 3 BOs.

Now for 3 days of intense "finding something to do", to make the time pass quickly.

deana,

I bought some little plastic easter baskets to seperate breeds. they are open weave all the way around. they are about three inches long. I turn them upside down and set them over the eggs on the wire mesh. chicks hatch and stay inside the inverted baskets. because of the open weave I can see into them through the bator window.

like the idea of the baskets. wonder if i have anything around here I could use. How many were you able to get in the baskets? I am going to go and look around the house and see what i have to recycle around the home.
like the idea of the plastic fruit bins fruit comes in when you get it at the store. Might have some here

fruit bins would work I bet. I only put 2 or 3 in mine. I always seem to have eggs from a special hen that I want to keep. when I take the special ones out of the bator, I put some food coloring on a q-tip and dab the belly. the color stays till the fuzz turns to feathers. that way the chick can live with everyone else but I can find it. similar to how the hatcheries mark different breeds. they put a dot on the forehead.

no idea how my comment got mixed in with yours

I am right there with you. It is 10:20pm and its officially lock down. I tried to figure out some way to do dividers but i was just messing with incubator to much. I am sure i can tell, BR, RIR, EE's, BR and welsummer and RIR and welsummer apart. But if I am not able to my friend can sense they were from her. Next time I will be better prepared and not hatch so many eggs LOL

I am thinking about friday we should hear something. Now wrking on getting my humidity up then off to bed.
