Need A Hatch Buddy.. Anyone Setting Today 2/26?

I finally got home a little after 9 and I had 2 chicks already hatchedRIR for both of them. Then at 9:30pm one of my EE's hatched.

have about 30 more eggs to go. So we will see what happens tonight. Going to leave those three in there for now. Here in a little bit I will transfer them to another bator heated and ready to be used.

just had another one hatch that makes 5 out of 34 makes 29 more to go.
going to be a long night. I am going to try and make sure they are mostly hatched out before I go to bed. I am waiting on them to dry up a little bit then they will go in my redwood bator that i am going to use for a brooder for the next few days.
then I am going to move them into a cage i have set up for them. I will post pics tomorrow once they dry off.

Love your idea of the toilet paper rolls. Might try that next time. Last time i used a egg carton with small holes cut out and they hatched out in that. I only had a few that time though. I used the rags this time with my hatch and it worked out great. That is what I love about this thread we are encouraging each other along and learning new things. Good luck on your hatch. You will be just fine.

I've had them pip into a vein and die in the shell. It's sad, but it happens. Best to leave them alone and let them hatch on their own; Mother Nature knows what she's doing.

I had one totally zip and die in the shell. I don't know what happened, but when we did an eggtopsy, it just didn't look "right" - maybe a little under-developed, not alot of yolk absorbed, etc. So, yes, Mother Nature knows what she's doing. I'm bummed tho, the egg was out of my most favorite "9 lives" EE hen.

okay so far i have 8 chicks hatched out. Lets see what the rest of the day brings. I am setting up their brooder now to go into i have 1 or that are completely dried off so they are ready to be moved.
do any of you give yours grow gel when u set them in their brooders. I have some but have not given it to them as of yet.

can you mix a little bit sense i have more that are hatching. Or do the whole thing put what i do not need in the fridge and give the rest as they hatch?

I will try and get pics later.

No action yet today. Candled very quickly (wrapped in damp washcloth - no pips) last night - veins, so I'm hopeful. Someone told me yesterday that it could be 4-5 more days!
