Need a lid for a 3 lb. feeder.....

OK, I ave two new bantams in a dog cage with a 3 gal. waterer and a 3 lb, feeder (open on top) sitting on a cinder block so they don't get it messy, except now one or both of them roost on it at night, getting poop into the food, bottom part where they eat out of. I added a huge branch into the cage so they can use that to roost on, but no luck, So,,,,, any suggestions on what I can put on top of the feeder for a lid that they won't roost on? Thinking of using a funnel-shaped something......

They are being quarantined for 30 days, the reason for the dog cage

Try and make the roosts higher than the feed bin if possible. If that doesn't work, a funnel like you were thinking over the top should work.
