Need a new roo

HEY!
Well, we have a RIR roo, and he is a sweetheart. As long as you really hold him a lot, you're set.
Ricky, my roo, keeps the girls in line, and isnt too loud, which is good!
RIR is the way to go!

RIR roosters are gorgeous.

I would recommend an EE, as my dominant roo is an EE. He's gorgeous and very good with the girls. He doesn't fight with the other roosters - they just seem to know he's their boss. One young cockerel took him on one day and after five mi uted of a lot of noise and flared hackles, the challenger gave up. Nobody since has challenged him. He even has a BFF Jersey Giant roo he hangs out with and they often sit next to each other during the day, watching the flock.

I am going through this same problem. The two breeds of rooster I was looking at for being calm and friendly were either buff orpington or easter egger. I read that RIR roosters can be somewhat aggressive, so I would check into that before going out and buyong one. It just seems everything varies, you could have the most friendly breed and get an aggressive rooster or have an aggressive breed and have a sweetheart. A lot of it is the luck of the draw.
