I agree that every business SHOULD be in business to make money. I think charging a higher price for a higher quality product, regardless of whether it's a chicken or a cupcake, is also a good thing.
But I think charging $400 for a pair of birds that are not THAT very' exotic is highway robbery. They could charge half as much for the same birds and STILL make a ginormous profit, which is the point of being in business, is it not?
Price gouging is price gouging & you can package it up in pretty ribbons however you like. Just because they have an attractive website and healthy birds (which pretty much ANY reputable non-price-gouging breeder will offer) doesn't mean they're worth the prices they charge.
But I also believe in everyone's right to spend their money however they choose. If you got money to toss and want to buy from them, you have that right. I am simply saying I choose not to do businesses with such companies that are so blatant and obvious in their gouging... that's my choice. I simply said what I personally would or would not do, and even if I won the lottery tonight, I wouldn't buy from them.
