Yay! 2 keets saved, good job
. MacGyvering a hatcher set up as close to perfect as possible, at the perfect time worked out perfectly for you... and I really didn't have much advice to give you, other than keeping it warm enough and moist enough. And obviously you did an excellent job with both. Let's hope the 3rd keet makes it too. Keets usually do pretty good at creating enough of their own heat when they are that close to hatching , as long as they are fairly warm. It's the moisture part that can be an issue. I've never tried the mixing bowl trick before, but years ago I did have a few keets hatch out on their own in a nest in the sun after the Momma Hen got off of the nest and left a few slower eggs behind, and I have also taken unhatched eggs from an abandoned nest that were close to hatching and put them in a moist towel on top of another towel that was on top of heating pad on low... and they hatched out healthy, so whatever works, lol.
Good to know that Turkey Hens are too heavy for Guinea eggs tho, I have 3 Broody Turkey Hens that insist on hoarding any Guinea egg that they can roll under themselves, ALL DAY LONG, lol... it's a daily battle 3-5 a day to collect my Guinea eggs from that pen. They have figured out that when they see me coming they better move their butts tho, but I worry they are going to crack some of the eggs getting up and jumping off the pile of egs. So far so good, but now I'm convinced that I am not going to use them for broodies, ever lol.
I agree your newly hatched keet once it's dry should be ok with the 2 day old keet, they will both appreciate the company and someone to snuggle with. There's not much size difference in just 2 days, and as long as the newest keet isn't weak they should be fine together. The older keet may start biting at the new keet's toes, so you can sprinkle crumbles on the brooder floor to keep it preoccupied if if that starts happening (toes look like worms to keets, I guess).
Anyway, congrats, hope you have success with the 3rd egg!
