Need advice/help/experiences,Pekin female cough/voice changes now

I have not wormed her yet. Is it going to hurt her if i worm her while shes acting this sick? I just dont want to add any stress if she doesnt have worms. What does white droppings mean

I beleive in chickens it's urates which is their pee, Have you been giving her probiotics since she has been on antibiotics? it could also mean her tummy just needs some probiotics,. What if it is worms and you don't treat? worms can kill. Safe Guard is suppose to be a very safe wormer.

My pekin ,whats with the worming my pekin has seen 4 vets no one mentions anything about worms.

Back ground again? Mostly we're talking about gape worms which get into the trachea they cause anemia and can kill if not treated. Well all worms can kill if not treated but we have focused on gape worms here since this duck has been coughing. It seems it's the process of elimination when you don't have the funds for an avain vet or a vet period.

How much did she weigh when the vet first saw her and what does she weigh now? White droppings could mean dehydration, but don't quote me on that.

Its been a week today since we seen the vet. Its hard to tell whether doxycycline is working or not, she is still coughing. She still bobs her tail just a little bit, We are supose to do this antibiotic for 45 days! Wouldnt this antibiotic show more improvement by now? Its given 2x a day, I mean she quacks alot more so thats an improvement but her coughing can get severe at times when shes too excited, and these antibiotics are very expensive at the vets. Already cost me 75 bucks for 2 wk supply. Im not sure how I can afford to use this another 3wks! But overall Pebbles is still here and thats all that matters to me,I just wish her coughing would disappear

Okay i am not a vet but I have never heard of using an antibiotic for 45 days. On the med chart I have from Twin City poultry is shows for Doxycycline 1teas per 1 gal of water for 5-7 days for Paratyphoid for 21 days. I believe I'd call and question the 45 days. As far as the coughing I don't know, that needs to be mentioned when you call the vet also, but glad to hear she is quacking more so that must mean some improvement which is good.

FWIW, many of the dosing instructions on the Twin City site are *very* wrong. Best to follow vets instructions.

Well vet thinks MG or parasites or just respiratory problem. Pebbles was so afraid in the car ride that i thought she was gonna have a heart attack. We made it home and shes happy back with her friends. She sounded very very congested at the vet office tho, like gurggles in chest. She never sounded like that at home. Must be from being afraid and agravated it? Anyway. She sent me home with doxcycline 150mg twice a day. The fecal test will be in monday or tues and not starting panacur till the results. They said her sinuses look inflamed and eyelids a little red. Also recommended me bringing her inside out of the cold. If i do that then i will have to put a friend inside with her or she will get to stressed. Anybody use doxycyline before
Sent home with 150 mg capsules and instructions to give one twice a day, which is probably fine. To the best of my knowledge those should be given orally, not taken apart and mixed in "whatever". Open beak, insert pill, push pill in, massage down throat.

Vet also said might be parasites.
