Need advice/help/experiences,Pekin female cough/voice changes now

Ok so a night ago I honestly thought she wasnt gonna make it, she was panting and breathing heavy. Her lungs sounded full of fluid.. She wouldnt take her medicine either. Well she made it thru and yesterday I went and bought Denagard from a farm store a hour 30 mins away. I came back and she was doing much better then when I had left. Wasn't panting and couldn't hear so much gurgling in her lungs.
The doxycycline has been stopped now for 48hrs. She wasnt getting any better on it,in fact it seemed like it made her worse. And then I started researching and came across Denagard and read good stories. So I am now planning to use that.
My vet called and said maybe this is a fungal problem and that maybe we should try a antifungal.
My question is, how can you differinate fungal respiratory from MG or bacteria respiratory?
Her symptoms are, weight loss(but eats) alot of coughing, Wheezing/congestion/ or fluid in lungs, slight swollen sinus, shivers at times.

I dont know which way to go, Denagard? Antifungal? continue Doxycycline?
I have been misting with Oxine Ah already.. I hope someone can help me
I really don'tr know much about meds other than what I read on here and med chart, and Denafard isn't even listed unless it's under another name. I sent your link to casportpony she has alot of knowledge about meds hopefully she can give you some advise. I know your frustrated and worried about her. Keep up the misting with the oxine

I also remember amykins having to put Wobbles on an antigfungal so maybe pm her also.

I am sure your vet is well intentioned and trained to deal with animal issues but are you sure they are versed in bird care? To suggest a diagnosis over the phone seems a bit off to me. differentiation between fungal, bacterial, etc infections should be able with lab work if the vet is set up to do avian lab work. I can only suggest that you try finding a vet that knows how to care for birds. If you do go on a Denagard regimen DO NOT continue the Doxycycline. Never do dual antibiotic treatments. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted as the any progress.

I have stopped the doxycyxline. Starting Denagard. The problem with correct diagnosis is i cannot afford a $400 xray,$200 for tracheal wash. Etc. The vet and i are more going by symptoms and tryjng things to treat. Ive alresdy spent 200 on medication. The vets have done a few ducks but not this kind of problem. I havent found anymore around my area either.

A fungal infection like Aspergillosis can be very hard to diagnose in birds. Treatment for it might be something like fluconazole. If it were my bird I would have started on Baytril and if it got worse on Baytril I would have started fluconazole.

Her coughing still no better. She is coughing more and more everyday. Is there something i can use to soothe her coughing and throat? Any cough meds? Herbal?

Did you look at that newsletter?

If it is fungal, you need fungal treatment.

If it is bacterial, you need bacterial treatment.

If you cannot get a vet's help, then you'll need to make some guesses and try some things.

At times, ducks will have a combination of both fungal and bacterial problems.

@Miss Lydia has used Oxine, I believe, but be careful with that - there are two ways to use it. One is much riskier.

Yes I read the story of Laddy. Do you know if she was coughing as well? My pebbles hasn't been lethargic or wobbly. Just this cough and wheeze every now and then..
I have tried----tylan 50 no improvements.....doxycycline for 7 days,no improvement.....now she is on Denagard...still no improvement. theres been improvement in wheezing but this cough keeps getting worse. Her sinuses were swollen but seem to not be anymore.
I have been working with a vet. I do not have enough money to get xrays or cultures done.
They have offered to try a fungal med next. Its so frustrating when you dont have enough money to get the help you need. I can only get what I can.
Also I have oxine..I use it unactivated in a mist humidifier. After I do it she sounds more congested. Not sure if thats a good thing or bad thing
