Need Advice on 2 Pekin Ducklings - Nares and Walking

I can't help it....those little shoes made me giggle they are so adorable! Hopefully the duck expert will peek in and advise for you. Ducklings are so cute they should be illegal :)

Looks to me you have already gotten some very good advise and I agree those shoes are adorable. good job. Here is a link to more info on leg problems and info on making shoes in case these don't work. I do agree you should put them on some kind of good poultry vitamin save a chick is good also Poultry Nutri drench and Electrolytes/vitamin packet. Some time temps in bator can be off just enough or humidity to cause problems your seeing with your one duckling but swimming in nice warm water will help strengthen those legs muscles. We also have a good care link I'll get for you. All the best with these 3 precious ducklings. And please let us know how they are doing. There is a pic of a homemade waterer that will work great for giving these lil ones a way to wash out their eyes and nares and not be able to climb into.

Well, Slushy has had his "booties" on for a few hours. I've had to retape one section that he has picked at and made loose. I put them on a towel outside of their brooder in hopes that they would get a little exercise. I wanted to see him walk. Here is a video of him walking. I think he's doing better!

I also picked up the electrolyte and vitamin supplement and mixed it up for them. They're drinking it. Thanks for all of the comments!

He is so cute, and doing much better. Did you sex them? You'll find out soon enough if they were sexed properly when they get their adult voices females quack loudly drakes have a raspy voice. XD They're so stinking cute!

Slushy's shoes look great!! You can trim off a little bit on the back of them where it sticks out behind his feet, but it isn't necessary really. Looks like he's walking around really good with them already! It's a given that he will hate them at first, but they do get used to these things and he'll be walking around like they are a normal part of him in no time. Great job! ^-^

Keep us updated on these guys! They are so adorable.

Babies are just so hard to resist.

Do the little guys have toys yet? We use to introduce our first flock with toys they could peck at. Move stuff around introduce them to new things every day. We never walked "Lightly" around them. So that way they weren't as skittish and would accept things better when they grew up..(Not that it worked as far as people go) But it did help them accept things in their environment faster. (New food sources, new furniture outside.) They got kinda curious but either way, they loved the bird toys like wood hanging from a string with a tiny bell. They wanted to tug on the string to make noise. Which annoyed us sometimes, but they had so much fun with it! I know its more of a pet thing not so much of a outside duck thing. But they're babies! Its hard not to spoil them. xD

Look at my guys! No more stuffy nose for Popcorn, and Slushy is swimming and walking like a champ. In this video, Slushy is the one on the top left near the end.
