I would stay away from that much starch. Rice, oats, and corn ect. are not natural for a dog. It's harder for them to digest, and some dogs (like mine) are allergic to it. Also, dog food ingredients such as peas and beet pulp are just fillers. I feed my performance/working dogs a high protein, limited ingredient diet. I stay away from all corn, wheat, and soy.

My friend feeds her two dogs on bakers complete after i have told her it is a bad food, she wants to change to one of these food, (please don't suggest any because you will be waisting your time because out local shop only supply these at the best) James welbelloved: Minimum levels: duck (26%), rice (26%), oats (14%), linseed (3%), duck gravy (2%), alfalfa (1%), seaweed (0.5%), yucca extract (200mg/kg), chicory extract (0.1%), cranberry extract (0.05%), green tea extract (0.05%). Harringtons: Ingredients Turkey Meat Meal (min 26%), Maize, Porridge Oats, Rice, Fat, Peas (min 4%), Beet Pulp, Digest, Linseed, Vitamins & Minerals, With Kelp, Citrus, Yeast & Yucca Burns: Brown Rice (min 63%), Chicken (min 20%), Oats, Peas, Chicken Oil, Sunflower Oil, Seaweed, Minerals & Vitamins Engage: Ingredients: (in descending order by weight) Maize, Dehydrated Poultry Meat, Dehulled Oats, Poultry Fat, Whole Linseed, Beet Pulp, Fishmeal, Chicken Gravy, Calcium Carbonate, Sodium Chloride, Yeast Extract, Chicory Extract I have my dog on Engage but for some reason i find it suspicious because on the back of the back when it says anyalis it like says "Crude protien" instead of just "protien" Hopefully she can get something good for her dogs :), she has a bichon and a shi tzu
Out of these three I would only feed my dog Jamesbeloved. Sounds like a very good food. As the dogs get older their health may depend on what they have eaten through their lives. Corn is not good for dogs plus it can cause allergies. Also, with the higher quality food you will find they do not need to eat as much and the poop isnt as gross.

Im scared to put him back on JWB because he had terrible gas, the skinners isnt too bad but it is only a pound cheaper than JWB so if JWB was alot better i would just get that...

No matter how great a food is, it isn't going to be perfect for every dog. If he had horrible gas on the JWB, something about it doesn't agree with him. I wouldn't put him back on a food that doesn't agree with his tummy. He would actually be getting less nutrients/good from the food than he would from a cheaper food that does agree with him

He dosen't seem intrested in his food anymore (Engage), i might try changing the flavour, if that dosent work, i will put him on a trial for JWB, if its goes well, i might intorduce his to the wet pouched mixed in to make it more exciting. He has a canned food along with engage its called "country choice" but he dosen't seem to like it so when the back has ran out im not buying anymore. Im soooooo tempted to put him on pedigree mixed but im stopping my self because i know its not good. He has had so many different dog food, Bakers, Wagg, Beta, Iams, JWB,engage, co-ops own (that was tempirory), winalot (tinned), butchers tripe (tinned), Country choice (tinned), he dosent like any of them, he kind of liked Bakers but it give him the runs so i had to take him off it, this dog is just anti dog food!

Repeatedly changing foods can cause digestive issues. When you find a food that you are happy with you can try adding carrots for fiber and either coconut oil, pumpkin or yogurt to help clear up any tummy issues. Worked wonders for my rescue with tummy problems.

If you aren't happy with any of your local choices you could look online. If you sign up for regular deliveries you can sometimes get a good deal. I feed grain-free Mericks and have been very happy with it.
