Need Advice On Incubation with a Little Giant

That I do not know exactly. I went based up what the hygrometer on the incubator read, which was 65% after adding water. It then returned to 45%, but I assumed it was high enough. I just use an old school mercury themometer to measure temperature.

I'm guessing you haven't calibrated either?

What was humidity at lockdown?

70% RH is ideal.

Have I taught you nothing grass hoper ?????? First things first. lets go down the list . #1 have you calibrated you thermometer and hygrometer ? If not do so . #2 do you have the incubator in a controlled environment ? A room that stays at or near 70 degrees . #3 Have you checked the Humidity in the room in which the incubator is in ? Ambient humidity is passed through the incubator vents . It will affect incubator humidity either by drying it out or adding to it .So there is really no such thing as a dry hatch just hatches where water isn't needed to achieve the desired humidity #4 and of all of them this is the most critical . Temperature must be taken at the top of the eggs . Still air Styrofoam incubators have a wire spring element incased in ceramic inside of a metal tube which are slow to react heating up and cooling down. Also the temperature at the top of the incubator has to reach temperatures of 104 or higher to achieve 101 or 101.5 at the top of the eggs .

Here's a good hygro. Thermometer is junk, but once calibrated the hygrometer is a nice one.

For thermometers, fish tank thermometers from Walmart are cheap and usually quite accurate. Again, just calibrate as I've found the odd one is off.
(This is the right link, right K?)

You should always use more than one thermometer in your incubator. I use as many as I can fit in.

Thank you for the responses. I do have the incubator on an interior wall away from direct sunlight that stays a constant temperature. I am using a good themometer, and the hygrometer for the house does read accurately. I will see if I can find a reliable one for the inside of the incubator. This is just a hobby I am trying. Sorry for delayed responses, but with a 7 months old and 4 years old, I do not have time to sit down and respond immediately. I do appreciate all the help. I will eventually figure out what will work.
