We have four (2 week old) baby chicks that were getting along great till yesterday. The one Rhode Island Red, out of nowhere, started pecking a the other chick's eyes. Luckly, we caught it in time, so no blood was drawn. We changed out the clear bulbs for red ones then seperated her from the others. The boxes are clear plastic so the chicks can see one another. The temp in both boxes is 87 degress and are in the house, not the cold garage.

What else should I do? When should I put her back with the others? Will she stay mean?

The nice chicks are a silver laced wyandotte, a light brahma and a buff orphington (who go pecked on the most)

Open to any advice!!!!!

Thanks!!!

I had this problem too. The chick getting pecked was one week older than the rest, and they mistook her eyelids for food. I separated her out for 2 days, then re-introduced her (she was only separated out by a screen in the box). I switched the light to red, and that seemed to do the trick.
