need advice on using a covering for plywood floor of coop

I used linoleum (glued and nailed) and extended it 6 inches up the wall and then laid horse mat over that. I've used it for about a year. I think it was over kill. I use small wood shavings for litter and scoop out the poop every day (I only have 3 silkies chickens). They are not a messy as I thought they would be.

For my coop I went to Lowes and got a reminent of linoleum. Cost me maybe $5 - $10 for a huge roll. Works great. Not something I would have picked for my house, but it's only for the coop and it's covered by shavings.

We have to keep costs as low as possible for our coop. We are mostly using recycled materials. I'm thinking we will go the cheap flooring route. As long as it lasts a little while, we can replace it later with something better if it seems to wear out quickly.

I would not want to take a chance on the Blackjack #57 unless someone knew it would not get sticky. I live in the South where it gets hot and humid!

Blackjack does not become sticky in hot weather. I've had this stuff in my coop for over three years. I can get temps over 100F in the summer, with high humidity, and the floor does not ever become runny or sticky. Nothing is ever stuck to the floor when I do my coop cleanings. I can totally sweep it out, and all you see is a black floor. It is not tar, it is more like rubber in a can.

Do you have a restore near you? I got my flooring there for super cheap.
we are doing the same thing with our coop, all recycled or reused materials. We are also building a green roof. i would love to see yours when it is done.
