Need advice on wrapping the foot of a Cochin - feathered foot

Can anyone give me advice on wrapping the foot of my standard Cochin? She has a spot of bumble foot and after soaking in tricide neo I want to wrap her foot to keep it clean but all of those feathers are making it impossible to get something to stick. There is a fantastic video showing how to wrap a foot without feathers, but it is not working on my girl. Thanks.

I use vet wrap for all my birds' foot wounds. It's stretchy and it clings to itself. You can get it at feed stores, granges, etc. Sometimes it's stocked in the horse supplies section.

Thanks and you are so right, the vet wrap is fantastic. I am having a problem on the girl with all the feathers on her feet. The shafts are so stiff and I can not get the vet wrap to get a good grip on them and it does not seem to work trying to wrap between the feathers either. How do you guys with the heavily feather footed chickens wrap them? Do you wrap the feathers to the foot? Will this cause a problem if they are damp? I hate bumblefoot.

I wrapped the foot of a silkie once and where the foot feathers were I covered the tape up with another piece of tape so it wouldn't stick. I put a piece of cardboard down like a shoe under the foot and put the tape on that too.

I just use an extra long piece of vet wrap. I cut it about an inch wide and maybe six inches long. Then I cut down the center so I have two strips about 1/2 inch long, stopping about an inch from end, kind of like a "V." I put the bottom of the V, which is the inch-wide piece, on the pad of the foot over a piece of gauze bandage. Then I take one arm of the V and wrap it around the foot and up around the ankle. I make sure to smooth down all the feathers. The other arm of the V also goes around the foot and then between the first two toes and up the ankle. Again, I make sure all the feathers are smoothed down in the right direction, so they don't lay wrong. The wrap sticks to itself and by the time I"m through I have about three or four layers going around the ankle. None of my chickens have ever been able to take it off themselves and it doesn't seem to bother them after the first few minutes.
