I can't figure out what's going on with this 6 week old hen. Shes been sick for about a week. The pics show blood in her droppings, so that would lead me to believe its Coccidiosis. I've also attached a pic of her eye, which would lead me to believe she has a respiratory infection. I was giving her Corid and electrolytes in her water, but didnt see any improvement. I changed to Duramycin and electrolytes. She seemed to perk up a little bit, but then I noticed the bloody stool again. Can someone please help me? I have 9 six week old girls together in a good size brooder and shes the only one that appears sick. I'm trying really hard to save her, but I'm not sure what to do. Both of her eyes crusted over when I had her on Corid. One eye got better when I changed to Duramycin. I'm so confused. I tried to quarantine her, but she was freaking out and I was afraid she was going to hurt herself. I would appreciate any advice! Thanks!!!

If it is fowl pox the last stage is the crusting over of the lesions... There aren't any know cures except for waiting it out and nursing her like you are.... If it is coccidiosis, corid is the recommended drug and the whole flock will need to be treated... Was your flock vaccinated or on medicated feed

I'll look into fowl pox. They were not on medicated feed, but I started them on it Tuesday. This is just so baffling to me. Shes up pecking around and eating and drinking this am. It seems like the duramycin is working better, but she isnt wheezing, no nasal drainage. Just the infected eye and bloody stool. She seems to respond better regarding her eye to duramycin, but I know that won't help with coccidia if thats what it is. I'm wondering if co rid in one waterer, duramycin in another one and medicated feed would be an overload on her

I just looked. I dont think its fowl pox. She doesnt have any other areas that look like that. Its just that one eye. Is there an ointment I could put in her eye?

I'm no expert but I had a break out of "Mycoplasma" in my flock that was, I assume, brought in by my neighbours buying infected birds...my vet prescribed Tylan, that I added to the drinking water. I believe that there's an injection but it's not really advised here in the UK unless the chucks are at deaths door. My hens displayed similar symptoms to your hen (there was no blood in my hens stools though). All of mine pulled through with no detrimental effects. Might be worth investigating?
