So two days ago my husband was cleaning up our backyard a bit (which is hard to get him to do) and he found a baby chic that was abandoned I guess. I can't begin to imagine how it ended up where it was found. It wasn't wet or anything and it. Was tiny. It couldn't stand on its own and was kinda struggling to get any where. We put it in a small box with a little cloth and it made a little tunnel to stay warm. I've been trying to get it to drink a little bit of water through a teeny tiny baster. It has been drinking a little bit but not too much. I am waiting on supplies to be delivered but not sure what to do in the mean time.

It unfortunately does not look well in your photo. The most important thing is making sure it gets enough fluids and it stays warm a chick that size needs to be in about 90° temperature you can try taking a lamp even a white lamp bulb and hang over where the chick is sleeping to keep it warm if you have a thermometer to measure the temperature adjust the lamps/bulbs height based on the heat. You can try feeding the chick some egg yolk with a small amount of water added. Just do the best you can and hopefully the check will survive. May have already been too cold and dehydrated when you found it.🙂

If it is still alive, you can use a hair dryer to get it warmed up in a hurry. Just be careful it isn't too hot. I've saved a lot of chicks that way.
See if you can find some Nutri-Drench. That too has saved a lot of chicks. Most feed stores carry it.

I just experienced one of the worst heart aches of my life. The little guy was doing OK, when we were all in the same room having a conversation it would chirp and chirp like it was on our conversation. He would move around the little box and was starting to drink a little bit of water. But In my stupidity I trusted my 14yr old to just keep an eye on the little guy and come get me if he heard it chirping. Well some how the little guy ended up in his water all night and some how when I went to check on him he wasn't really moving too much cause he was soaked. He passed away a little bit ago. I don't know if I'm cut out for these type of losses. Maybe I'm just too sensitive.
