I have 4 chicks in the bator right now that were born yesterday. I have 8 eggs that are on day 21. None have pipped yet. I had a chick born last night and it didn't seem to be able to disconnect from the shell. It was on it's back kicking and kicking. I just woke up and went down there and it's the same way. It's alive and seems strong but for some reason, the shell is still connected although it's fully out. What do I do?

Can I take those four out quickly? I have a RCom Suro 20 and it usually regains humidity quickly. I have my husband here to help.

If I take out that chick, what do I do? Can I disconnect him?

Please help! This is our first hatch and I want to save this little one!

Thanks!

How long has she been trying to get out?? It can take up to 24 hrs for a chcik to get out of its shell.. Also how high is you humidity??

The chick is totally out of the shell and has been since 10 pm last night. It's on it's back and it seems like the cord (or whatever it is that connects them) just hasn't broken off. It's kicking at the shell but can't break it off. And it hasn't gotten off it's back yet. The humidity is at 70% and about 75% when one hatches out. It's not stuck in the shell. The shell is still hooked to it. Does that make sense?

If you want to grab the chicks out quickly as long as there are no pips it will probably be ok. Then all you have to do is clip of the little cord. Just make sure when you pick it up you pick up the shell at the same time.

Can you see any membrane or egg sack attahced or does appear to be only holding on by the featers??

I can't really tell. He's lying in between two eggs and his shell is kind of blocking the view. I'm going to go get those 4 out, including the shell, and evaluate. I think...

Sounds like a plan .. I would try to moisten up the shell to loosen the hold.. Good luck and let us know how the lil one does.. Also we need PICS of these lil cuties..

All is well. All 4 are out of the bator and are doing well. It was just a feather stuck to the shell. I cut it and she's running around now.

Here they are!
