Need advice setting up a brooder

I have a question too! I'm new at this also! I have 8 chicks, 10 as of Thursday. 3 are about 1.5 weeks, and the other 5 are almost a week. I am getting 2 rooster chicks tomorrow. I have room for them in my brooder I have set up just wanted to make sure the ages were ok. Also the brooder is in my living room. I am using a 250 watt heat bulb right now, and was wondering if I needed to leave it like that because of the younger ones. It hangs at one end so they can get away from it if necessary. Just wanna do what is best for my babies!!!
Being that their is only a few days difference they shouldn't pick on the younger ones. Some of mine are a few days younger that the others and I've not had any problems at all.

Well I fell a little better now! Weather here is so yucky I'm gonna wait and pick up new chicks tomorrow.
Any suggestions on the light?? Should I leave the 250 watt or can I change it??

Well I have to say mine were about 5 days old when I got them and I have them in a 7cu ft freezer box. I but a 100 watt light in my lamp. They get hot they can move away and if they get cold they can move closer. But they are growing great so I guess I'm doing something right.

The only reason I asked if I could change the light is because that 250 watt heat bulb is heating up my whole living room!! I thought maybe since they were inside maybe a 100 watt would be ok. I may get one and see. Thanks for all advice!

No problem. I have mine in my hallway of my house too. This means its already nice inside. If it was in a garage I would recommend keeping the 250 watt bulb.
