Need advice with Tension/Migraine Headaches

LMAO. I just got what they were saying. Thanks for spelling it out! lol

Have you tried a steam bath? Have your head over a hot pitcher of water, put a towel over your head and inhale? It usually helps me but then, mine are also associated with a drop in blood sugar. When my blood sugar drops I have to eat something right then.

I find a very hot bath in a dark room sometimes works. The heat helps relax the muscles and veins and makes things feel better. I have to stay in for a fairly long time. A quick dip and out doesn't work. A hot tub would probably work too, but I don't know if you can get those as hot as the baths I take.

sorry about the migraines. I used to get all the time, now every so often, usually just before I come down with a vicious viral infection. Treatment? cold cloths on head, hot pack on feet, otc tylenol, sudaphed (sinus is one of my causes), dark room and tell the family they're on their own for dinner.
In the past I learned my triggers of foods and such I'm severely sensitive to - migraines are just one of the results. But for migraines: no milk or milk products, no chocolate, no sodas - caffeine or not, , no petroleum in the air, no monosodium glutamate or related chemicals - that one is the biggest migraine trigger. But then there's the stress ones, the "optical migraines" when I get blind spots and eyelid droop.
Wow. and the previously listed California remedy also gave me migraines. Probably kept me out of a world of problems back then. ha.

I used to get migraines all the time!!! I went to a dark basement that had been nick named the "mole hole" by funny daughter....With a warm bed and a cool cloth and a Tylenol PM...... I think most of mine were stress related and sleep deprived and very poor dietary habits...

For the stress, please try guided imagery or yoga or doing what ever can take you away from "thinking" about the pain spot. Also for bathes, I love the smell of lavendar and use the dry lavendar soaks from our garden.

Finding your triggers - it's been said before is important and then early intervention with tackling that migraine.

Will be praying for you.......

Ugh! I feel for you. I have Chronic migraines. I have since I was 16 years old. Stress, changing sleep patterns, change in barometric pressure and some foods are my triggers. I had them 3-4 times a week and usually ended up in the ER for a shot of Demerol and Promethazine. I am now taking Topamax daily as a preventative. I have Imitrex Statdose Injections to give myself when the migraine first starts(usually knocks it out in ten to 20 minutes) and I carry that dose pen with me EVERY WHERE! I have one in my night stand, backpack, desk at work, and leave one at my daughters house so when I go to visit. lol! Migraines are no laughing matter in my family. Both of my adult kids inherited from me. Since starting Topamax I have had only maybe 2-3 per month, which usually are taken care of with the Imitrex Statdose. I dont have to rely on taking a Lortab and ending up in bed for 2 days like I used to. My turning point was seeing a neurologist for them.

I use the Imitrex injections --

I also keep those very small cans of Pepsi in the coldest part of the refrigerator -- the combination of sugar and caffeine along with the chilled liquid helps --
Then I make sure to get my hands and feet really warm -- hot bath or under a down duvet.

I have had migraine all my life -- tested for all the 'triggers' -- a drop in the barometric pressure or flickering lights can trigger mine (I was very happy that it wasn't one of the usual ones: red wine, cheese, chocolate, caffeine -- those are my major 'food groups!!')

Sorry to hear that all of you suffer -- sounds as if most everyone has figured out what works best for them --

So far, there is no cure, but there are quite a few clinical trials available -- check out to see if any are in your area -- you never know when there will be a major 'break-through' --

Excellent advice. When I worked at the chiro office, a man came in that had suffered from migraines for 35 years. After a few short weeks of adjustments, he was pain free. He said we had no idea what it meant to be able to wake up pain free. He was on very powerful presciptions, and was able to stop them all. I just thought that was miraculous.

It was so bad my wife was off work for 2 months, she was on Excedrin Migraine and other meds and it was hurting the lining of her stomach and making her vomit, that is when they decided to try physical therapy and she has been well every since!

I fill the tub with hot water and slide down till my head is floating in the water and just my nose and mouth are out of the water. Usually by the time I resort to this I have been up for days so I generally fall asleep in the water and sleep till the water is cold. If you don't think your head will float then only put enough water in to cover your head without your head leaving the bottom of the tub

Hope you feel better.

Are you sure your sinus infection is gone? I will ask my office assistant in the morning for more ideas. She is the ultimate homeopath.

Love ya!
