Need awnsers to goat behavior

Well Dixiegirl I really don't appreciate the tone of your response.
Being scared and being smart about a new animal whether it's a dog or goat is a smart thing to do. If you don't raise them from babies and they do not know you ,you should always use caution.
I do not put up with crap from any animal and in my wanting to know information is the smartest thing to do.
Pretty sure I can tell if his snorting and whatnot was not from eating.
Since it seems all you want to do is tell me how shy and scared I am . I would appreciate only people who are giving me ADVISE not judgement .
Maybe you should think about keeping your opionions of my person to yourself since you don't even know me!
It is called common sense to learn and observe animals behavior.
And not be like all the other idiots that get a breed of some animal
then find out it's not what they wanted.

I suggest that when he comes up to snorting, if you think he is trying to test his authority, just walk into him as someone suggested, and push him over with your leg at his shoulder. Just move him over enough for you to pass by, and keep walking. Talk to him as you are doing this and don't do it aggressively, just confidently. His reaction will tell you a lot. He may be surprised that he didn't get his bluff on you and be confused that you didn't just retreat from his huffing and puffing. If he acts aggressive when you do this, flick his ear, and tell him NO firmly.
Don't make a big deal out of it and do it only enough to get him to move. Don't keep going after him. Leave him to think about it.

This may work for you and it may not. Depends on you and the goat. Sometimes with goats as with all animals, you may not get along with each other. If not, find one that works for you.

I don't have any more suggestions as I'm not there to see what is happening. Only you can judge if these are the right ones for you.
Hope it works out for you.

thanks Jean, I really appreciate the encouraging advise.
I needed to know how to get him to move back a little, he comes up and I think he wants me to back up instead of him. I touched his head and he pulled away, I tried to scratch his chin and he pulled away but then he kept comin back,so maybe he was gettin ansy beacuse I didn't have a treat. I will next time. the other ones semmed soo much more comfortable with me petting them, the nannie was really sweet. Hope i can train them to a lead soon.
today I went and interacted with them , they were much more friendly today but Mr.Will still seems a bit pushy.(the little black one I had mentioned before.)
I think thats is exactly what he is doing they are alot like dogs . I decided I am going to maybe keep him too. I am not aggressive towards my animals but they all know I am the boss. I agree with you, some animals just don't get along with you, kinda like in-laws:)
Thanks again.

Amazing then, how I have 40 odd very very friendly goats who love me to bits, when I use the horns to handle them for drenching, vaccination, and leading them. I also tie them up by the horns. Incidently they were not bottle raised, they were dam raised.

I think once you are around them a little more you will become a lot more comfortable. I was raised around goats since I was 5 years old and I was always out with them and I was never injured because of aggression. It sounds to me that the male goat is probably curious. Also bucks will snort and make "aggressive-like" noises when they are courting a female or when they are "in the mood", just something to keep in mind when he does it, he might like you

I also agree that yummy treats will win them over. I think in time you will get to know their actions and reactions and you will see how goats really are. I think you will come to enjoy and love them. They have great personalities and there is nothing cuter than a newborn baby goat. I would consider castrating the male if you want him for a pet and not for breeding. They have a strong musky smell and pee on their face. Bucks can be pretty gross, especially when they are sweet and want to rub on you and be petted.

Anyway I hope this helped a little, good luck and have fun!
