Need book series for a 6 year old

Junie B. vote here as well. I don't think the "bad English" is that big of a deal, no more confusing than any other conversations in books. It's just written the way Junie B. talks, kind of like an accent.

My daughter LOVED them, even writing to Barbara Park (who answered with a very nice letter!)

what about American Girl? That has books for several ages. At 6, my daughter had started the Little House series. Little House in the Big Woods is pretty simple.

This is a good suggestion. I'm not sure what level she is reading at, but they have "young versions" of a lot of classics. Anne of Green Gables, Black Stallion, Black Beauty, Moby Dick, etc

I'm pretty good at this with my girls. Even my 16 year old had a list of 30+ titles she wanted for her birthday. She got a kindle lol

It's an old series, but what about the Little House on the Prairie set? My daughter loved that set and still has them to this day.

'Course a month later she was reading The Complete Works of Edgar Allen Poe. What can I say? She is Gritty's daughter.

I love the Little House series. And I think Laura is 6 years old in the first book (Little House in the Big Woods) and that would appeal to another 6 year old.

I still have my Little House Series

Your girl sounds like mine. Allie wants to be an author when she grows up. Last year she was Editor in Chief of the school paper. At 11, she is reading things that my daughter is assigned in high school

Does she like horses? Marguerite Henry has written some of the most wonderful stories about horses. The "Misty of Chincoteague" series about the Chincoteague Island ponies would be really great for a young girl!! I'm not a girl, but I read every one of her books as a child!
