Need book series for a 6 year old

You guys are AWESOME!!! I knew this crowd would have readers.

This one's older sister is into the Boxcar Children and Nancy Drew. She's 8. The 6 year old isn't quite ready for them yet. For her birthday I gave her the Beatrix Potter collection since she had just gotten her bunny. It was a huge hit.

We have tried Little House on the Prairie on the older nieces. They weren't really ready at 6. Now that they are 8 and 9 they are sort of starting to get into it. Same thing with Little Women and Little Men. They are just now starting to get into them.

My daughter is 6, and a very good reader too. She loves the Skippyjonjones books. She got the Biscuit books last year, and still likes them.

There's also an early reader version of Dolphin Tale. It's like 80-90 pages.

Wow, I had forgotten about many of those books! When I was younger I read every horse book I could find, more than once! I may just have to go back and read them again

Also, be sure to check out Amazon.com for free Kindle downloads. You can get the free Kindle PC download so you can read Kindle books on your computer.

Another source for classics is www.gutenberg.org, they are free. If you're an avid reader, you could also volunteer to help that project by proofing their uploaded books, it's easy to get started and is rather fun.

I used to order from chinaberry, but now I tend to use the library with the chinaberry catalog in hand. The chinaberry catalog itself is a great read with a kid in your lap! It has book reviews on every stage of reading.

At 6 I loved Whisper the Winged Unicorn. They're older and you have to get them off Amazon or Ebay, but they're good.

My little brother is into the Secrets of Droon series, as well as Magic Tree House and Boxcar Children. It might be a little over the 6-year-old's head, but if you have any other relatives in that age range of six to ten-ish, they might like them.
