How old is it? All my pullets act like boys, behavior isn't a good indicator. And with all that feathering, it's comb should be red by now

Sounds like they are bantams, just large ones. What would be your goal with that breeding? Would you want something that is smaller but looks exactly like a cochin otherwise, or just something smaller and pretty cochin-ish? For instance, how important would comb type and leg feathering be to you? Or feather color?

I’d like them to just be smaller versions of themselves lol my research has told me cochins are large chickens. So perhaps not so Cochin-ish would be the goal.

I believe it’s a three week difference between the black one and the red/white one. But honestly I cannot remember the ages. I remember when I picked them up there was a big size difference, although now you can’t really tell that lol

Large fowl Cochins are large.

Bantam Cochins are small. They are supposed to look like miniatures of the large Cochins. They are still larger than some other breeds of bantam, but smaller than large fowl. They also tend to have fluffy feathers, which can make them look larger than other chickens of the same weight.

I actually do not like the way the combs are developing. But don’t know what it would be called. Upon closer inspection, the comb is turning red.

Both of the males appear to have pea combs, when I zoom in on the pictures that were posted this morning.

What do you not like about how they are developing? They look like normal pea combs to me

there is one of the 7 that is smaller then this.

Same guy from above next to a buff orphington - they are all supposed to be the same age.
