Need coop lighting ideas

I am using the solar 3 flood light kit with the remote solar panel from Lowe's. So far it has worked out well. They are dusk to dawn operation and I will admit they will not stay on exactly the same amount of time each night, but they work about 3-5 hours before they dim. It has helped getting the bantams to go into their coop & is bright enough for them to eat & drink by. On cloudy days they stay on about 2-3 hours. I think the shed light from harbor freight is a flourescent light & that wouldn't work here in the cold. My lights are LED & should not be affected by the cold. My coop is a movable tractor thingy, so I don't have electric. We'll see how the winter goes. Dusk to dawn seems to be the only option if you are using solar, unless you have unlimited funds. Good luck.

I recently bought one of these Coleman rechargeable lanterns.

It works great! And while it doesn't fulfill your desire for a timer, you could certainly hang it in the coop in the late afternoon and then go out and shut it off at bedtime. Of course, that only works if you have a 9-5 type job and maybe you don't. Not quite as handy as a timer, I know, but it's an alternative anyway!

I just ran an extra heavy extension cord underground to the coop, wired in a low watt / low"lumins" bulb, one of them curly ones, but have a two outlet socket in there as well. I have the stuff coming for an automatic pop door opener, and if I wanna pressure them into more eggs (when they ever start laying) then I can easily add a timer to the light. The timer will have 2 sockets in it as well, which leaves me one for the water heater, It's gonna be just fine.

I have a sky light in my coop for what it's worth... helps let natural light in sooner.

I also have an electric light that goes on at 5AM and off at 8PM

Not helping much in egg production though.

Lowes home improvement has a ffood light that has a sensor on it . It comes on at dust and goes off at dawn . It works great . Good luck
